Verifiers

Barcode verifiers are used to measure barcode quality. All barcode symbologies are subject to specifications which determine the limits that apply to barcode dimensions, encodation and printed characteristics.

Barcode readers are designed to read any barcode that meets the specifications.

Some barcode readers are engineered so that they can successfully read barcodes which fall outside of the allowed tolerances.

However, the standards exist to ensure that ALL barcodes which meet the specifications can be scanned by ALL readers that also comply with the published standard.

Most organizations that operate barcode systems will insist that barcoded goods entering the system will be expected to pass quality checks, therefore it is not sufficient to ensure that your barcodes can be scanned by one particular barcode reader. To ensure that the barcode can be successfully scanned by all readers, it must pass the verification test.

In recent years the verifier market has changed significantly with many models being withdrawn. We currently recommend the QuickCheck range of verifiers. However, changes are rumoured for this range, so we recommend that you check with us for the latest specifications and prices.
