The Adjustment Panel

WBC4 Dimensions panel - how to set barcode size/magnification.
The Extra Quiet Zone setting lets you increase the Light Magin (or Quiet Zone). The feature is used to prevent bearer bars from encroaching on the light margin on presses where there is exessive print gain.

The setting increments in multiples of the 'X' dimension (narrow bar width).

The Adjustment panel is used to alter the widths of all of the bars in the barcode.

This adjustment is necessary to compensate for the effects of most types of printing.

Most printing presses or laser printers will thicken the bars to some degree. Thickening can also occur at the imagesetter when producing films for platemaking.

Therefore, there are 2 separate settings for adjustment. Both do exactly the same thing, but if you always use the same imagesetter, yet have a number of different printing presses with differing compensation factors, you can leave the Device Compensation as a permanent setting and set the Bar Width Adjustment as required.

Both settings appear in the currently selected measurement system - thou (thousandths of an inch) or microns (thousandths of a millimetre). You can use the up and down arrows to change the value or type a value into the fields. Note: Both positive and negative values are allowed, so ensure that you use negative values for thinning and positive values for thickening (although this is rarely required).
